Surface Tablet won't start up & is warm to the touch

Once in awhile, the Surface doesn't wake up. It's not a big deal, but it does make the heart thump for a few minutes.  Sometimes it will also feel warm to the touch. Before you panic and call tech support try forcing the tablet to shutdown and doing a fresh startup.

  1. Hold the off buttong down for 30 seconds.

  2. Lift your finger off the button.

  3. Start the tablet as you normally do. You'll feel that little vibration in about 2-3 seconds.

Voila, one working Surface.

If it doesn't restart, chances are the battery is too low and needs a charge. Plug the tablet in and let it charge. I've found it usually takes about 2 hours before it responds, but you might get lucky and it will boot up in an hour.  Once it's charged, it will start up normally.

Catpaw with a pint & a typical bad haircutTime for a new look - the venerable cat on a postage stamp is now retired. As much as I loved him, it was time for a face lift - bad haircut & all.
