The Namibian 2021 stamp program has 3 series to collect. The annual program is modest, with 3 to 6 sets issued each year. Although not a large number, the stamps are a boon to wildlife thematic collectors. This year won’t disappoint with its snipes, weasels, and flowers.
Namibia’s post office, Nampost, is well designed, making it easy to find past issues and information. The only critique I have is the lack of designer information. Each stamp comes with a First Day Cover, cancel and 3 to 4 stamps. Namibia makes up in quality what it lacks in quantity. Looking through past stamps reveals a treasure trove of Namibia’s flora and fauna. Some of the artwork is exceptional. The 2013 Antelopes are not to be missed. The postmark alone is worth pursuing.
2013 was a great year for Namibian stamps. The Beetles are wondrously shiny and gemlike. Once again, the postmark is a true collectable.
If you prefer history and art, then Namibia can scratch that itch as well. Previous years tap into Namibia’s history and its arts and crafts. The traditional wooden vessels set has some interesting selvedge. Blocks would look nice on display.
Dangers of tunnel vision in collecting
There is more to explore at Philately Shop – Philately | NamPost – We Deliver More. Don’t pass up the chance to enjoy the beauty their stamps & cancels offer. I’m glad I broke out of my North American/European centric collecting habits. I can’t believe how much I’ve missed over the years by not looking at countries like Namibia. When I started collecting, in the mid 70s, the Internet wasn’t even a dream. We collected what we could find and that meant mostly, in my case, Canadian and UK stamps. That led to a narrow focus and I robbed myself of the chance to learn about different countries, their stamps.
