A number of post offices have issued stamps supporting Ukraine.  I haven’t tracked down and/or posted all countries. This is a work in progress project.  With so many postal authorities to watch, it can be time consuming and easy to miss a new issue, so be patient.

In a related note, the EUROPA committee changed the 2023 competition to reflect the catastrophic invasion and hopes for the future.  The theme is PEACE – the highest value of humanity.  It’ll be interesting to see what designs come out of the competition.  Neither Russia nor Belarus will be participating. They may produce stamps covering the theme, but in an April 25, 2022, EUROPA committee meeting it was decided to exclude them from both the 2022 and 2023 competitions. 

Latvia issued the first Stand with Ukraine on March 10, barely 3 weeks after the Russian invasion.  Designer Ģirts Grīva produced a strong stamp, featuring both Latvia and Ukraine’s colours. Griva pretty much set the bar high for future designs. 

Latvia was quickly followed by Estonia, Poland and Austria. If you know of a stamp I’ve missed, leave a comment. I always appreciate tips.

This stamp is 1€ + a 2€ surcharge. For every stamp sold, 1€ will go to organisations providing help to the displaced Ukrainians fleeing the war being waged on them. Funds will be directed to Nachbar in Not and UNICEF. 

Nachbar in Not – Neighbours in Need 
NIN was formed in 1992, in the wake of the Yugoslavian war. It sought to provide humanitarian aid to some of the 1.5 million people fleeing to (hopefully) safety. Since that time NIN has provided help to Darfur, countries devastated after the 2004 Tsunami, Haiti, Pakistan, Romania, and others.

A donation of $1 from each booklet of 10 stamps (and 10 cents from the Official First Day Cover, a special collectible envelope) will provide essential aid – and hope – to those affected by the situation. Funds raised through the purchase of this stamp will be distributed through the Canada-Ukraine Foundation. This is the first time that Canada Post has issued a stamp in support of a country in need of humanitarian assistance. Canada Post May 19, 2022
