Louis Braille was born January 4, 1809, in Coupvray, France.
In 1825, he developed the 6-point Braille system that enabled vision impaired to read and write.  

To mark the 200th birthday of Louis Braille, the inventor of a reading and writing system for blind and visually impaired people, TNT Post issued a series of special stamps. An exciting word game with both printed letters and Braille characters that can be read by sighted and blind people. The minimalist use of colour and the tactile Braille dots introduce the sighted to the world of the blind.

Each stamp has 3 two lettered words that are easily read in Braille, but sighted people have to figure out the word puzzle. Graphic designer René Put won Best Graphic Design for this set at the Dutch Design Awards in 2009.

The raised dots are easier to see on the back side of the stamps.
