Yorta Yorta man Douglas (Doug) Ralph Nicholls (1906–88) was a footballer, pastor, Aboriginal rights campaigner, leader and state governor. This issue celebrates the passage of The Education Act in Victoria on 17 December 1872.
This legislation made the colony of Victoria one of the first jurisdictions in the world to offer free, compulsory and secular education to its children.
