A Charlie Brown Christmas premiered Dec 8, 1965

Perennial favourite A Charlie Brown Christmas aired for the first time on December 8, 1965.

In 1965, the year A Charlie Brown Christmas debuted, the media focus was not what it is today. There were just three television Networks, and no VCRs, so once the special played, audiences had to wait a year before seeing it again. Talk about anticipation!
Reflections on A Charlie Brown Christmas – Charles M. Schulz Museum

Charles Schultz’s first cartoon special premiered on CBS and has since given the world many cultural touchstones, including a Vince Guaraldi Trio soundtrack that remains popular today. This year has been a fun one, watching so many people record themselves and their friends re-enacting the dance scene.

USPS issued a 10 stamp set in a speical dedication ceremony that took place at the Charles M. Schulz Museum.
