Country legend Patsy Cline died

On March 5, 1963, county singer Patsy Cline died at the age 30.

“Don’t worry about me, Hoss. When it’s my time to go, it’s my time.”
Patsy’s last words to a friend on the afternoon of March 5.
She had just turned down an offer to accompany him on an 8-hour drive back to Nashville. Instead, she decided to fly home on a Piper aircraft. The plane went down some time around 6:20 pm, about 140 km from Nashville.

Despite her short life, Patsy left a memorable mark on the music scene. She is considered one of the most influential singers of the previous century.

When Cline died, 60 years ago tomorrow, she was just 30 years old and at the height of her career. She had three studio albums to her name, and two No 1 singles. She had played Nashville’s Grand Ole Opry countless times, been handed the key to New York City, and become the first female country artist to headline her own show in Las Vegas. Her 1961 hit “Crazy” is said to be the most-played jukebox song of all time.
