Canadian singer, writer Gordon Lightfoot was born November 17, 1938 in Orillia, Ontario. 

“He is our poet laureate, he is our iconic singer-songwriter,” said Rush singer Geddy Lee in the 2019 documentary Gordon Lightfoot: If You Could Read My Mind.

Canada Post issued a series of stamps celebrating Canadian recording artists. Lightfoot was included in the 2007 release. The photo on the stamp was used on his 1975 Gord’s Gold LP..
