The image on the above stamp depicted the incorrect train. A second stamp was issued in 1976 showing the 1853 engine.

This engine is quite different from the one in the original 1953 stamp.
171 years ago, a steam engine pulled out of the Bori Bunder station for a 54-minute ride to Thane. Great Indian Peninsula Railway train carried 400 passengers in 14 cars.
