International Cat Day August 8
EGADS it’s International Cat Day already!
Yes, last August 8th we celebrated the day as well, but any excuse to enjoy cats.
These two cats were created by Andrew Lewis Design for Canada Post’s 2017 Community Foundation fund raising stamps. In 2017 over $1.1 million dollars was raised with the money going towards the following foundations:
- Nanny Angel Network, Ontario – $20,000 to fund free, in-home support for children 12 and under whose moms have been diagnosed with cancer, are in palliative care, or have died. Nanny Angels are trained to address the long-term emotional and psychological impacts of living with a terminally ill parent. The Foundation grant will pay for more Nanny Angels in the GTA.
- Muscular Dystrophy Canada, Nova Scotia – $50,000 to start a system navigation program serving all of Atlantic Canada, which will help young people with progressive neuromuscular disorders access better care and reduce their isolation.
- The Native Education College, British Columbia – $22,000 to launch an intensive four-week, summer math program for Aboriginal children.
- Dans La Rue, Quebec – $20,000 to help respond to the mental health needs of homeless and at-risk youth. The grant will support counseling, staff training and shelter expenses.
