Flag Day in Pakistan is observed on August 11 because on this day in 1947 the Constituent Assembly of Pakistan officially adopted the national flag of Pakistan. Four days later, Pakistan declared its independence.

The national flag of Pakistan is a green field with a white crescent moon and five-rayed star at its center, and a vertical white stripe at the hoist side. The green color represents Islam, the white color represents religious minorities, and the crescent and star are the symbols of progress and light respectively.
