Rick Hansen Man in Motion World Tour completes

On May 22, 1987, Rick Hansen arrived at Vancouver’s BC Place Stadium, completing a 26-month, 40,075 km journey.

On March 21, 1985, wheelchair athlete Rick Hansen set out to travel around the world, raising money for spinal cord injuries. When he started his Man in Motion World Tour there was little attention paid to his journey. As Hansen kept wheeling country to country, publicity gradually increased. When he returned home to Vancouver, BC, the crowds were in the thousands to greet him.
