This is the second year Pitcairn has focused on the Royal family rather than the usual flora, fauna & history suspects. Pitcairn has a history of outstanding naval and sea life stamps, but they’ve been absent for the past two years. It’s a little disappointing.

Pitcairn’s first set of the year was the expected Platinum Jubilee issues. If I get enough messages from readers, I’ll post a page of all the releases for this year. And there are a lot of them.  Although many countries used the same photos and layouts, Pitcairn engaged illustrator Diane Fawcett to create a unique set. Predominately known as a fashion illustrator, Fawcett has also created a number of stamps for Pitcairn and the Isle of Man. 

The second set is a celebration of William’s 40th birthday, using familiar photos to round out the year. If you collect Royalty, then it’s a good year. 

Maybe next year we’ll be treated to more ships ‘n sea life. Fingers crossed.
