Royal Mail 2021 stamp issues offer up an interesting mix of nature, history, and humor. Collectors of sci-fi and history related themes will be pleased. One series has already been released and available in the RM’s online store National Parks | Royal Mail Shop, a visual tribute to 70 years of National Parks. Each stamp in that series represents a stunning miniature work of photographic art. Studio Mean outdid itself with this set.
As the rest of the issue are released, I’ll load them up so keep coming back for more details.
Subjects include:
- 4 National parks
- Only Fools & Horses at 40
- Classic Sci-Fi
- Legend of King Arthur
- British Army Vehicles
- History – Industrial revolution
- Lunar New Year
Formatting changes
I’ve changed the sizing of the page to accommodate the growing number of mobile users. When available, the images will expand into a large, attractive size so you can see as much detail as possible.
Postmarks & cancels
Royal Mail has a large number of interesting sponsored cancels which I’ve begun to list. Each cancel is noted with Sponsored commemorative cancels with the cataloguing number under the postmark & by the name of the sponsor. I briefly considered creating a separate page for this type of cancel, but after constructing the German page, and liking how every pulled together, I decided to keep the stamps & cancels on the same page.

Previous stamps include 2015 Battle of Waterloo, 2018 Captain Cook’s Endeavour Voyage
The designers for this brilliant series offered insight into the design process for such an iconic set of classic science fiction novels. It’s not just smash a design onto a stamp, they wanted to capture the heart of each novel:
With such a vast and complete mix of ideas across the six novels our first task was to decide on the key theme or plot point of each text and decide on the best way to illustrate that on a small canvas. To do this we commissioned six artists and illustrators for the collection, with each stamp featuring a scene from a book that marked a “key evolutionary moment” for the genre.
Webb & Webb (webbandwebb.co.uk)
