The Luxembourg 2024 stamps are here already, and I’ve just realised I forgot to post the 2023 program. Tells you what kind of year it was. Sigh, I’ve pulled up last year and will fix it up and get it ready for later in the month. Lots of edits to complete. But hey, this year is underway.Â
I suspect if there was a contest for slogan cancels, Luxembourg would rank among the top. Post Luxembourg issues a substantial number and sometimes it’s hard to keep up with them. They are noteworthy and, even when not associated with a stamp, are worth chasing down. I have all of them prepared, but it takes time to research each and post them. They will appear a few at a time in the coming weeks. Here’s a sampling of what to expect:
Cancel hounds should be happy with this year’s offerings.Â
Normally, this is where I’d write a bit about what I thought last year’s stand out stamps were. But … well. How about we just pretend I didn’t forget to upload 2023 and carry on with this the Luxembourg 2024 stamps and I promise not to fall and damage myself again.Â
Cheers
Catpaw

25 Years Death Madeleine Frieden-Kinnen
1 stamp, FDC, cancel
At this decisive moment when I am facing death, I solemnly declare – which I was not allowed to do in my lifetime – that I have been the victim of a judicial error. I forgive those through whom this misfortune has come and who may themselves have been misled by misunderstandings. I also express my gratitude to all those who, despite appearances, have maintained their trust and esteem for me. I assure them one last time that I deserved that trust and esteem.
In the hope that I will not be denied this ultimate wish, I depart in complete serenity towards this new life, where there is no injustice or false pretence, where everything is clear and true.

First female Minister in the Luxembourg government until she was hounded from office.Â
After a press campaign in the socialist newspaper Tageblatt which accused her of ‘behaviour contrary to moral standards’, she resigned her mandate in 1972. The affair has long haunted political life in Luxembourg and has been the subject of numerous investigations, including “Un monde misogyne et cruel” (A misogynistic and cruel world), by the journalist Yolande Kieffer.
