Tradition dictates that I start the Türkiye 2023 stamps with a look at last year’s program. 2022’s post was far better than 2021’s because I was able to find better details about the artists and designers as well as a bit more history for many of the stamps. 2022 started strong, with one of the year’s best sets, by industrial designer Eray Coşkun. His Nostalgic Means of Transportation ticked all the boxes with clean lines, strong colours and great old vehicles.

Ankara based artist Coşkun excels in what is described as micro-designs. His minutely detailed pencil drawings are best enjoyed if you blow the image up by clicking on the stamps above. The detailed tracks and shadowing add to the realism but still maintains a personal touch to each stamp. Why do I love this series so much? If you looked through the photos I take, the bulk of them are large vehicles – trucks, anything with hydraulics, streetcars. So add this to my passion for food stamps. I’m easy to please.
Eray Coşkun’s post mark for Nostalgic Transportation
The second set was the annual EUROPA competition by Selçuk Ören. Türkiye has a long history of winning the online portion of this competition and this set was one of the outstanding entries for the 2022 competition.
Graphic artist Ören used his talents to explore the classic Turkish folk story Köroglu. You can check out his website here Selçuk Ören | COMIC BOOK WRITER & ILLUSTRATOR (selcukoren.com) The site includes short videos and more of his artwork. He’s an artist to bookmark and watch for. You can also follow him on Instagram as well.
No word on which artists we can enjoy this year, we’ll have to wait until mid January to see the first one. But it will be worth the wait. In case you are confused by my use of Türkiye rather than the English spelling Turkey, I’ve decided to use the country’s preferred spelling , so I’ll try to get it right. If I slip, don’t be afraid to eave a comment and I’ll make a correction.

The first domestic cars was designed and built in 1961. Of the four produced one Devrim car (The second one built) is currently owned by the TÜRASAŞ Revolution Cars Museum. This car never made it to mass production stage, but laid the ground work for future car developments in Türkiye. This newspaper, from the Museum shows an article about the car.
The second car is a modern electric SUV, the T10X by TOGG motors. It rolled off the assembly line March 2023.

- Hacı Bayram Mosque – built in 1427-1428, fully acquired the character of the Ankara mosques ant the end of the 17th century and at the beginning of 18th century with the ceiling, craftsmanship decoration of mihrab-pulpit, tiles under the muezzin enclosure and the ceiling construction.
