Gustave Eiffel born Dec 15, 1832
French civil engineer Gustave Eiffel was born December 15, 1832 in Dijon, Côte-d’Or.
An engineer by training, Eiffel founded and developed a company specializing in metal structural work, whose crowning achievement was the Eiffel Tower. He devoted the last thirty years of his life to his experimental research.

Although best known for Eiffel Tower and Statue of Liberty, they were just two of his many artistic engineering projects. He designed and built Bridges, viaducts, buildings and statues around the world. He also explored the new field of aerodynamics, going so far as to build a wind tunnel at the feet of the Eiffel Tower.
