Sept 20 means a day off for Catpaw’s birthday
Why yes, it’s Catpaw’s Birthday and I’ll continue where I left off last year.
Last year I posted a non-stamp. A silly something in lieu of a real stamp because … well … I was lazy. This year I think I’ll change it up a little and post a stamp that makes me smile. Oh, um, correction: a cat stamp that makes me smile.
This little 1996 bundle of joy was created by Osaka artist Ryuichi Yamashiro and is titled Sleeping cat (“Neko to Posuto”). It’s perfect for a lazy, chilly day spent watching Godzilla movies and eating popcorn. That is exactly how I plan on spending the day. I might get frisky enough to make a few espressos laced with cardamom.
Why pick this stamp out of the thousands available? I love Yamashiro’s art, not just his cats, but they have a special place in my heart. He created so many delightful cat pieces of art that it’s hard to pass him up. Check out more of his work here Ryuichi Yamashiro Web Museum.
