Mehmet Akif Ersoy is known to the Turkish people as the author of the National Anthem. Mehmet Akif Ersoy is also known as the “Poet of the Homeland” and “National Poet”. One of the most important works of Mehmet Akif Ersoy is the book Safahat. Mehmet Akif Ersoy took part as a deputy in the first Grand National Assembly of Turkey during the War of Independence.
