UAE’s 2021 stamp program

Written by catpaw

January 12, 2022

2021 was a big year for the UAE –  their 50th anniversary. For those not familiar with the United Arab Emirates, the nation was formed by 7 emirates Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain and Fujairah, December 1971, with Ras al Khaimah joining in 1972.  You can learn more about the UAE here History of the UAE – The Official Portal of the UAE Government

For cancel lovers, the UAE offers some nice cancels to pick over. I especially liked the September Stone-Curlew/Houbara one.

Birds of UAE cancel

UAE cancels tick all my boxes – clean lines, easily identifiable topics and interesting designs. It takes a special skill to create such tiny works of art. And that brings me to my one complaint. UAE’s postal authorities offer no details about artist and designers. Not crediting artists should be a crime. If you happen to have any info, pass it along in the comments.

As well, if you have any interesting links to the history of the region, feel free to post it as well. I’d like to add details to this page about the history an culture of the area and would appreciate any help readers can offer.
