Industrial Revolution- Josiah Wedgwood, ceramics
From UK’s fantastic Pioneers of the Industrial Revolution
Designer: Webb and Webb Design
A pioneering designer, Josiah Wedgwood devoted his life to advancing the possibilities of ceramics, perfecting materials and techniques that elevated the craft to new artistic heights. His vision extended beyond the workshop, reshaping the way goods were made, marketed and experienced through innovations whose influence endures to this day.
Guided by conviction as much as creativity, he also used his craft to champion the abolitionist movement, producing the iconic anti-slavery cameo medallion in 1787.
